"Lost in the Woods"
This sketchbook assignment was so much fun creating. I decided to humanize a tree and create a sparkly ballgown and have the tree/woman lost in the woods. The lights that light up and reflect the glitter turned out very nicely and am excited to share this mixed media painting to the world. The picture does not represent anything personal about my life but does bring out my personality throughout the piece. For example; I love the season of fall, ballgowns, and doing crafts which this assignment allowed me to bring out.

"Ring Day"
This piece I volunteered to make for 2017 ring day mass for PND. I decided to do a hand on the bible holding a rosary and a holy card to represent a big part of Notre Dame. For the background, there are bible verses that I thought would relate to the people in my class or quotes by religious leaders that our school has encouraged. I enjoyed doing this piece because I could create my own picture and show my art work to locals that are apart of the PND community. I also enjoyed using charcoal again and practicing the techniques that I had learned previously in drawing class.

"Letters Pulling my Heart Strings"
The piece above was created by the wood being the background, the paper as the middle ground, and the words as the foreground. The piece is very simple but it has a very deep and personal meaning to me. The piece consists of all of my favorite letters I have received so far. Many of them I refer to often for a confidence booster and some of them have changed the way I view different things or some are simply just a happy birthday wish that made me smile or a greeting card that I couldn't throw away. I illustrated the bible verse 1 Peter 4:8: "Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sin." I also burnt the edges of the letters to create a vintage and aesthetic look. I also wanted to emphasize the idea that even if the letters were destroyed, I would carry these memorizes and the people that wrote them forever.

"Stool of Tea"
The inspiration for this stool came from my love of tea and the famous saying "not my cup of tea." I thought adding this saying would make high school students remember not everyone is going to like you all the time. I chose this message because this stool will remain in the art room and many students will sit on the stool and look at it everyday. I hope that this sketch book assignment will make students think better of themselves and not be so much focused on what their peers or people in their lives are thinking of them.

"Fairytales in Reality"
The sketchbook prompt that I chose was "depicting a dream." I used colored pencil to depict a dream where two fairytale characters wish they were with someone else. The dream in the piece is in black and white and reality is in color. I decided to depict what might look like an ideal life to others, is actually in fact a very earthly world where those characters yearn for more.

"Feelings"
My sketchbook assignment contains a direct draw of the brain + the heart = emotions.
The background is a shaving cream print with food coloring and the middle ground is the doodles of various emotions. I asked my doctor once if our feelings come from the heart or the brain and she told me both. I was immediately inspired to do this assignment after the fact.
Painted Bookshelf
For my SKBK assignment, I decided to up-cycle a box and make it into a bookshelf. I decided to draw the quote from Vincent Van Gogh, because I believe everyone should be inspired to paint beautiful pictures inside their head, whether it be while they are reading a book, day dreaming, or are trying to portray a story on a piece of paper or canvas.
